Modern Guitar Harmony’s mission is twofold. First, it is our aim to provide free guitar education at a university level to guitar players around the world.
Second, it is our aim to set up the Mick Goodrick Foundation to provide services, education, scholarships etc to those talented guitarists that need funding.
As such we we earn money through donations, the Modern Guitar Harmony Patreon page and various affiliate marketing programs including Amazon. As an Amazon Affiliate Modern Guitar Harmony earns small commissions from any links placed on the website and consequent qualifying purchases. All money raised from this endeavour goes towards the running of the MGH website and any extra money will go towards the Mick Goodrick Foundation.
With regards to affiliate programs we only recommend items that either we have purchased ourselves or have tested thoroughly. It makes no sense for us to recommend sub-par products as we want you to have the best guitar journey possible.
Any product that you buy through our affiliate links will be the same product that you normally buy at no extra cost. It is the eller that will give us a small commision on each sale.
Now, who are we?
As a non-profit website it is the number one aim of Modern Guitar Harmony to provide free harmony education to guitar players worldwide. In addition our aim is also to help guitar players find their individual voice on the instrument.
This education will take many forms such as blog posts, videos, interviews, self-published books, Zoom meetings and workshops just to name a few.
Not only will you learn about theoretical and practical aspects of harmony but you will learn our philosophies underlying our teachings as well.
Who Are We
You’ll be happy to know that those running this website are enthusiastic guitarists who have played for many years.
Somewhere along the line we got a little bored with traditional harmony and started to explore different voicings and non-functional harmony amongst other things.
Along the way we have discovered many beautiful harmonic progressions and voicings etc all of which will be shared on this site.
One of our members was very close to Mick Goodrick and he now has full legal control over Mick’s materials. Much of this material is not yet in print. However much of this material was also cryptically written by Mick so it may take some time to figure out what Mick meant with this material.
